Drought Road Walk

Michael and Colleen's Walk

Images by Rick

The treacherous path that leads above Drought Road

.....to the gates of the House that "Jack" built.

A decorative osprey nest is the centre piece.

Colleen greets "Jack" who also built The Gasthaus

All the gardening is done by the couple themselves.

A luscious lawn leads down the side...

atop the cliff...

...with a spectacular view of Peachland and beyond.

An outdoor breakfast nook.

Back at the Linleys a zigzag path leads down to the lake...

...where snacks are snook and beverages imbibed.

A lonely snail carries his house on his back - a lovely shell rather like that of a fossil Ammonite.

Not one bite was got from mosquitoes and I was wearing a white T-shirt. Plenty of Off was used. I'm usually attacked ferociously - not this time!!!

The elevation change from the highest point  --  as read by Tom O'Connor's GPS system.

Fortunately it was all downhill from there. Well, not in that sense! The last section is called Cardiac Hill --

especially challengng if you climb it  in the other direction.

... and Little White.

Checking the bearings

This little fella's gone to meet his maker - so blissfully peaceful!

Come back for the wild strawberries later.

The trip down into the glen of lush ferns.

Felled trees ...

... hacked down by this broken axe ... Carmen to blame!!!

In the glen a trickling stream ...

... mosses and ...

... ferns  ...

... wild lupens and ...

two scrumptious pancakes waiting to be eaten -- no don't!!!

Highway 33 down below. Closer to the bottom.

A memorial inukshuk  to someone who pegged out after climbing ...

You can get all the details here at the main trailhead.

A great hike!
